Never, never, ever quit…
Is such stupid advice.
One of my clients just made a massive decision to close an office in an emerging territory.
I’m sure if they had kept going, sooner or later they would have made it work.
But right now there are many other things to focus on ….
Like creating jobs, building a business and serving thousands of customers.
Knowing when to stop isn’t quitting.
Knowing what to, is crucial:
- Stop working 15 hours a day to spend more time with your family.
- Stop complaining that things aren’t as they should be; change what you can and accept what you can’t.
- Stop worrying about things that are outside of your control.
- Stop spending money on things you can’t afford.
- Stop wishing for change and be a change-maker.
What would you like to stop? What have you stopped?
What advice on ‘stopping’ would you give?

STOP believing technology is the solution or answer to everything. In reality it is invariable the opposite.
STOP existing and start living. Your life is made up of 2 dates and a dash. Make the most of the dash.
Stop living ‘outside in’
Stop blaming everyone for your problems. Use the energy to make changes to improve your life.
Stop, just stop and appreciate what you do have, check in with yourself, is it ‘enough’, if so, enjoy it more
Believe in what you are doing 100% and commit to it 100%. Realise that doesn’t mean doing everything and acting in every whim for a client, you’re running a business which has a product of a commercial grade . Not knowing where the line is in terms of fulfilling that promise, will always end up as a Sisyphean task.
Spec creep = cost up + time delays = satisfaction down.
No one wins – no one is happy.
Keep it clean
Stop blaming yourself for someone elses failure
Stop worrying about mistakes. The hard times shape who you are in the good times.
Stop comparing yourself to everyone else. Sure, it’s great to learn from others but you can’t be them. Be the best that YOU can be.
Use your time everyday improving things you are good at and stop wasting time trying to be an expert at things you are poor at, that is, unless you enjoy the things you are poor at and it’s not those things that drive your income.
Stop and take time to breathe before embarking on the next activity.
