For many people, Friday is the wind-down day. The work slows down, the energy dips and it’s as if everyone’s just waiting for the weekend.

But, and it’s a big but: Friday is 20% of your week. If you write off Fridays, you’re giving up one-fifth of your productivity – a whole day, every week, time you’ll never get back.

But what if Friday wasn’t a write-off or a slowdown and instead it was a fire-up and a strong finish?

Make Fridays Fab

Instead of winding down, let’s fire up Fridays and end the week on a high.

Here’s how to turn your Fri-neigh into Fri-yay!

Quick Friday Review

Take a few minutes to look back on your week. What went well? What did you accomplish? What could have been better?

A quick review helps you end the week with a sense of progress and sets you up for Monday.

Organise Your Workspace

Spend a few minutes tidying your desk or clearing digital clutter. A quick refresh of your workspace on Friday makes Monday easier and gives you a sense of accomplishment to close the week.

Reach-Out

Take advantage of Fridays to reach out to a colleague, client, or connection you haven’t spoken with in a while. Because it’s a low-pressure, feel-good task to wrap up the week it’s an easy way to maintain relationships and set up future opportunities.

Tackle Your Finisher’s List

Save a few quick, actionable tasks for Friday. Maybe it’s clearing out your inbox, wrapping up small tasks or checking in with your team.

It doesn’t have to be big – just a few easy wins that let you finish strong.

Take Back Your Fridays

Test this for the rest of the year. With seven Fridays left in 2024 (only six until Christmas), you have seven chances to reclaim your Fri-time, join my new campaign – Make Fridays Fab Again!

I’d love to hear what your Friday is like this week!

Friday is going to be busy but I will be proofreading my book, making sure that when I am told by the agent that the publishing company wants to publish, my book is ready

Your program and you have become sources of daily input I look forward to ever since you introduced me. Your word choices are solid and positive, which adds to me. Thank you for your teaching and sharing with people. We need more Michael Heppells. You add to my life!

Great idea – hoping this wasn’t AI generated – I’ve put in a motivational reminder in my diary for Friday mornings

Fridays is just another work day. As you say 20% of the working week.
Depends if we see ourselves as worker bees or queens!
I am king bee and when the hive is buzzin then I am fired up for Fridays.
    Keep making honey!

I am a massive Friday-fan! I work 4 long days a week and Friday is my ‘day off’ but I do a mixture of things- if I’m working extra then it is on my projects and admin only, I also use the time to resort my work to do list, clear all the post it notes and clear my email inbox- work and personal. I usually also have a little list of must-do home admin, some mundane but some nice like booking tickets to see Elf the Musical tomorrow and finishing off my Xmas shopping list (I love Xmas so that’s another treat for me!). It’s a day to finish super strong and feel good for the weekend. I’m a massive list-girl and keep lists in my iPhone notes of things I see advertised, like films or fairs and often on a Friday will see what’s happening for the next couple of weekends- as a result tomorrow night we’re at ‘cockney night’ with pie, mash and a ‘knees up around the piano’ 😂 and Sunday the brewery/ vineyard on the island is having a Xmas handmade fair so heading there. Fridays are brilliant! 🩷
