Someone busier than you is running right now

That was the text my friend, Fi received just at the right time.

It wasn’t from a friend or family member.  It was from Nike.

It was as if Nike knew.

Fiona had had a very busy day.  She’s an Osteopath and had seen a multitude of patients with varied needs.

When Fi arrived home, the temptation was to open a bottle of wine and just flop.

Then the text arrived.

Someone busier than you is running right now

Initially she smiled.  Then thought. Then took action.

5 minutes later…

She’s running.

During my own osteopathic adjustment (between cracks) we talked about the power of that simple message.

Would that note get you off your sofa and in to your Lycra?

Actually – what are you putting off because ‘you’re busy’?

The fact is, ‘Someone busier than you is doing it right now.’

Be Brilliant!

I’ve stopped putting off procrastinating. I’m going to start tomorrow (or Saturday).

I’ve started tracking my calories. I’ve put it off for ages but I’ve downloaded Lose it and have adopted the mindset if I can make time to check Facebook / text friends funny cat videos, I have time to track my calories and monitor what I am putting into my body. Feeling loads better and thinner!

I’ve stopped putting off getting that toad eaten and gone for the Mark Twain quote which he famously said that if the first thing you do in the morning is eat a live toad, you can go through the rest of the day knowing the worst is behind you. Your toad is your worst task, and you should do it first thing in the morning. Also if I’ve got two toads to eat I’m eating the biggest one first! I’m teaching my kids to eat their toads for breakfast too as its a general life habit I think I should share with them early on. They’re learning the joy of e.g. tidying their room in the morning and then spending the rest of the day in a nice environment where they can get more done.

In the same way you describe the Nike text as coming through at the right time ‘as if they knew’ I could say the same for your email! My meeting finished late, my diarised gym session was therefore, in my head, cancelled. I sat down to have lunch at my desk and read your email…..1 hour later, gym and lunch done, and feeling pretty good about myself! Thank you

I’ve stopped putting off exercise because I’m “too busy and gyms are expensive.” Not true! I’ve joined a subsidised running club and we go out every week come in all conditions! Parkrun is also free on a Saturday morning and the support there is just fantastic. Now, I’m consistently working out 3 times a week and feel so much better for it 🙂
