A truck made a detour through our garden wall.
I was remarkably relaxed about it, mainly because I knew Laurie Lambeth could repair it.
Laurie is more than a dry stone waller. He’s a craftsman, an artist, and a really nice bloke, too.
I watched him working, mesmerised by how he magically seemed to know the perfect stone to fit in the right place.
A huge random stone jigsaw puzzle.
When I took him a cuppa, we ended up chatting about this and that. And he shared something that really struck a chord.
He mentioned the number of times when customers, actually blokes (always blokes) would say,
“I would have done it myself, but I don’t have much time.”
Really?
You think you could just turn your hand to dry stone walling?
I held up my hands and confessed that I wouldn’t have a clue where to start and I’ll stick with writing, coaching, and speaking.
Laurie confessed he would hate the idea of public speaking.
And we nodded. Sagely.
What’s your expertise?
- What can you do that makes you an expert?
- What do you need to be better at?
I’d choose something easier than Dry Stone Walling.
Be Brilliant!
Michael
