Accessibility Statement

Last updated: June 2026

Michael Heppell Limited is committed to ensuring that michaelheppell.com is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.

Our Commitment

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. That means, for example, being able to:

  • Navigate all pages using a keyboard alone
  • Use a screen reader to access all content
  • Zoom in to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Understand the purpose of links and buttons from their text
  • Experience adequate colour contrast for text and controls
  • Have motion reduced or eliminated on request (via prefers-reduced-motion)

Technical Specification

michaelheppell.com is built with:

  • Semantic HTML5 — headings, landmarks (<nav>, <main>, <footer>), and list elements used appropriately
  • Skip navigation link — “Skip to content” appears on keyboard focus to bypass the navigation
  • Focus indicators — visible focus rings on all interactive elements
  • Alternative text — all images have descriptive alt attributes
  • Form labels — all form inputs have associated <label> elements
  • Colour contrast — text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratio (≥4.5:1 for normal text, ≥3:1 for large text)
  • Touch targets — interactive elements meet the 24×24 CSS pixel minimum
  • Reduced motion — animations respect prefers-reduced-motion: reduce
  • ARIA — ARIA roles and attributes used where native HTML semantics are insufficient

Known Issues

We are continuously working to improve accessibility. If you discover an issue, please report it (see below).

Conformance Status

We aim to be fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. “Fully conformant” means the content fully conforms to the accessibility standard with no exceptions.

We have conducted internal audits as part of the Phase 4 build process. We intend to commission an independent accessibility audit before the site’s full public launch.
