Seven years ago, I wrote a newsletter where I made up five new words. It can be found (freshly transferred to my new website) here:
https://www.michaelheppell.com/blog/post/5-new-words-and-phrases-i-may-have-made-up
I thought it might be fun to create five more. But being an Overdoobie (person who wants to overdeliver) I’ve created 10 for you this time.
How many connect with you?
Preplaining – The act of making excuses before anything has actually gone wrong.
Snorecasting – Giving overly detailed plans or predictions that bore everyone rigid.
Optigloom – The special kind of pessimism masked as ‘just being realistic.’
Wafflectomy – A much-needed removal of unnecessary rambling from a presentation or speech.
Dopamining – Scrolling endlessly through social media for little hits of gratification, knowing full well you’re being mined.
Thinkjam – When your brain clogs up with too many ideas at once and none of them can get out clearly.
Bragony – The subtle pain of hearing someone boast endlessly… usually disguised as ‘just sharing my journey.’
Pretendtious – Acting like an expert in something you Googled ten minutes ago.
Flustercasting – Giving advice while clearly overwhelmed yourself.
Nugglers – People who hug conversations tightly and never let anyone else get a word in.
What would you add?
It’s a while since I’ve given something away (typical Benevolate) so I’d like to offer a free copy of my Sunday Times No.1 Best Selling book Flip It how to get the best out of everything for our favourite.
